Kyle Higashioka (34), a catcher who played in the San Diego Padres this season, has moved to Texas.
The Texas Rangers announced on Thursday that they signed a two-year contract with Hisashioka. The terms of the contract are not yet known. Veteran catcher Higashioka is set to take on the challenge again as an FA as he stands out even more towards the end of his career.
Higashioka joined the New York Yankees and 토토사이트 꽁머니 as the 230th overall pick in the seventh round of the 2008 draft, but it took a long time for him to advance to the big leagues. He only made his dream major league debut in April 2017.
Higashioka, who later settled down as a backup catcher, showed his presence in 2023 by playing a career-high 92 games. He moved to San Diego in December 2023 along with Michael King, Randy Vazquez, Johnny Brito, and Drew Thorpe in a major trade with the Yankees to sign Juan Soto and Trent Grisham.
He played in 84 games this season and posted a batting average of 0.220, 17 homers, 45 RBIs and OPS.739. Notably, he hit three homers in seven games in the post-season, displaying his true value at the fall festival.
Higashioka, who was called by Texas, is expected to take on the role of backing up key Jonah Haim.
